Sophia M. Vega

Sophia Vega is currently a freshman at the University of Kentucky set to graduate in May 2026. Sophia aims to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science on the Pre-Veterinary track. Sophia is primarily interested in equine veterinary medicine either in general practice or reproductive medicine. Sophia is currently working as a horseback riding instructor in her hometown and shadowing at a local vet clinic in Lexington. At the University of Kentucky, Sophia is a member of the UK pre-vet club and on the UK Saddleseat team.

Jeffrey M. Mitchell, Jr.

Jeffrey Mitchell Jr. is a native from Louisville, KY. His veterinary medicine dreams sparked while participating in the veterinary magnet program at Central High School. He is a graduate from the University of Kentucky where he obtained his degree in Equine Science. Mr. Mitchell is currently enrolled at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine where he is pursing his doctorate of veterinary medicine (Class of 2026). Mr. Mitchell has a robust amount of experience working with horses, small companion animals, and within the pharmaceutical industry. His interest is racetrack and mixed animal veterinary medicine.

Deianira Smith

Deianira Smith is a DVM pursuant at the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine. She is set to graduate with her doctorate in 2023. After obtaining her DVM, Deianira is interested in becoming a board certified Equine Surgeon. Deianira's other veterinary interests include client education, community outreach, and small animal emergency medicine and surgery. Prior to vet school, Deianira worked as a nursing technician at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky During her time at UA CVM Deianira served as the Student Chapter AAEP President, AVMA Student Delegate, Student Ambassador, and the Zoetis Student Representative. She currently sits on the national AAEP Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Chanler M. Robinson

​Chanler is currently a Junior at The Ohio State University and is set to graduate in May 2024 with a Bachelor in Animal Science. Chanler is particularly interested in the Bloodstock Agency, Equine Reproduction and Equine Nutrition. Chanler has shadowed at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling sale, audited Liberty horsemanship Clinics, and attended the Congress Super Sale. At The Ohio State University, Chanler is a member of the Track and Field team, and is a member of SHEROS, an organization for female student athletes.

Jaida Alee

Jaida Alee is a sophomore at the University of Kentucky completing undergraduate studies in Equine Science and Management with a minor in Business. Jaida is interested in the racing, sales, and pedigree analysis components of the thoroughbred industry. Jaida serves as a Equine Programs Ambassador and has been an active member of UK Horse Racing Club, UK Collegiate Professional Horseman’s Association, and UK MANRRS where she has held several executive positions.

Harrison T. Goode

​Harrison Goode is a Junior at the University of Kentucky, studying Equine Science and Management with a minor in Agricultural Economics. Harrison is particularly interested in equine ethics and welfare along with saddle seat show horse training. Harrison is currently the Vice-President of the University of Kentucky MANRRS organization. Harrison has interned with John Deere and has also worked with show horse barns including Cash Lovell Stables and Riding Academy, Louisville Equestrian Center, and Cirrus Stables. In the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeder’s Association, Harrison has served as a member on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee and the Youth Charter committee. At the University of Kentucky, Harrison served as an UK Ag equine ambassador and is a member of the UK Saddle seat team.
